La Belle Mere: A Stepmom Weekend Getaway where stepladies from east, west, north and south get together to celebrate our coveted second wife status and swap war stories about our glamorous lives as stepmothers.
Who can attend?
This event is open to stepmoms interested in meeting other like-minded ladies focused on building positive relationships at home and in your community. If you’re willing to share your stories, listen to others, exercise your sense of humor and have some girly fun without guilt, this is the event for you. Activities will be centered around making connections, building our online community and giving yourself time to relax and rejuvenate.

Q) Isn’t Austin hotter than the dickens in August?
A) Yes, and then some. But, Austin has air-conditioning expertly handled. It’s kind of like Las Vegas in that way. You’ll be outside walking down the street, thinking you might die and then you stagger inside some random business or eating establishment and you’re instantly engulfed in a super chilly breeze. It’s magic.
Q) What if I don’t want to do all the recommended activities?
A) Then don’t. This weekend is about YOU. Do what you want to do to refresh yourself and return home a happy, rested stepmom. If that means hanging out in your room all day and emerging only at cocktail hour– have it your way!
Q) What if I want to bring my husband and stash him in the room while I do the stepmom bonding stuff?
A) Bring him. I don’t think we should exclude any man who wants to support his wife and make the trip. In fact, The Husband (as in, my husband) has already offered to lead “husband time.” And, in many ways, he’s a better host than I am.
Q) What if I feel weird giving my money to Izzy. How do I know that she’s not a scam artist?
A) Well, you don’t. But, chances are– if you’re a regular reader of mine, you trust my character and believe me when I say– I’m not planning this event to steal your money.
Q) Well, then why are you doing it?
A) Because I’m willing to plan it when others cannot. I’m a producer– this is what I do. But, my main motivation is the thrilling idea of getting an online community of stepmoms together off-line. I think this is a wonderful opportunity for a generally disenfranchised group to come together and connect, empower each other and recharge ourselves.
Q) Right on! What can I do to help?
A) The best way you can help is to spread the word. The more ladies, the merrier!
