Our Summer picks for the Big D

Remember, your top picks make the list!

BEST DAY SPA: Crescent Hotel Spa

Angela recommends Crescent spa. A few words about this woman; she loves to be treated like royalty (gold is her favorite color), she doesn’t care for dirt or shoddy service and she is one unrelenting critic. If this spa is her pick, you better believe it’s gooooooood.

BEST SALON: Osgood O’Neil

Keyea of Dallas takes her locks to Osgood. Angela (see Crescent spa) describes her girlfriend as a “successful young executive who’s never afraid to have a good time. Whether it’s purchasing the cutest new pair of Michael Kors wedges, sipping a lovely glass of white wine or discussing celebrities and the latest advancement in sunscreen, this Dallas gal knows where to get good hair.”

BEST GYM TO TRAIN: Larry North

I think it goes without saying that Keyea has the merits of excellence to recommend the best gym to get your body in shape. At the very least, it’s a great escape for twenty minutes on the treadmill and a quick glance at the latest In Touch magazine. Celebrity drama can be a great distraction from your own family soap opera, no?

BEST LUNCH DATE: Bread Winner’s Cafe & Bakery

Katie of Dallas meets her girlfriends here for their “lovely patio and wide variety.”

BEST GIRLS’ NIGHT OUT: Dinner at Tei Tei and cocktails at Ghostbar

Begin the evening at the serene and calming Tei Tei. Thank your girlfriends for getting you out of the house and reminding you to take care of yourself. Order some sake and seasonal fish and relax. Breathe.
Then, when you’re good and loose, hit Ghostbar for an after dinner cocktail. Enjoy the view and the colorful libations and ignore the fact that everyone is a good ten years younger than you. Head home just as soon as you remember how much you love your grown-up life.

BEST DINNER OUT WITH YOUR MAN: Aurora

Keyea recommends Aurora and after one visit to their Web site and I’m convinced. Raving reviews from Wine Spectator, The Dallas Morning News and Zagat. As soon as I can make it there, I’m ordering the following: Pistachio Crusted Veal Tenderloin Seared with Goat Cheese, potato gnocchi and wild mushrooms. Yum.

BEST BOUTIQUE: Forty Five Ten

Angela the fashionista goes here. Committed to her family, she also understands the importance of a fabulous outfit. An extensive designer collection, unique and arty home wares and gold, gold, gold. Their jewels are delicious.

BEST LINGERIE: Sheers The Bodywear Bar

Nothing says run-down stepmom more than those ratty underwear you’re wearing to bed. I knew I was no longer sassy and single when The Husband said, “baby, why don’t you go buy yourself some new bras.” Just because we’re busy raising kids now, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take care of our lovely “girls.”

BEST PLACE TO WALK AND COOL OFF: White Rock Lake

Katie says White Rock is great for long runs and bike rides.

BEST OVERNIGHT STAY: The Belmont

Kathie, who grew up in Dallas says, “it’s definitely the place to stay when you go to Dallas. It has the best view of Downtown- EVER.” Katie adds, “It’s neat and eclectic and not very Dallas. They have a great bar, too.”

BEST PLACE FOR FINE ART: Nasher Sculpture Garden

Dallas native and world traveler, Kathie recommends this garden for an aesthetic escape that gets you out of your head and thinking about the bigger picture.
