The question was raised after Hilary Swank commented in the November issue of Marie Claire that she walks around her house in the buff, even when her boyfriend’s 6-year-old son is around.
JC: What do you sleep in?
HS: I don’t sleep in anything. Do you sleep in a nightgown?
JC: I sleep in pj’s. I have two young sons, so I have to be conscious of that.
HS: Well, my boyfriend’s son is 6 years old, and you wonder at what age you should stop walking around nude. Every morning he comes into the bedroom, and you’re just nude. But he doesn’t look twice; he doesn’t think about it yet. I just toss and turn too much when I sleep, and if I’m in clothes, I get all twisted up.

Wow. This is beyond disturbing. Really.
I used to really like Hillary Swank, but this makes me dislike her. How COMPLETELY irresponsible can you be?!
I won’t even let my 5 year-old son (my own flesh and blood) see me naked. It’s absolutely not appropriate. I would NEVER have let my stepsons see me naked.
Just another example of how Hollywood is totally another planet of its own.
Hillary is completely off base. She is lucky the BM does have her b/f in court over this. Because in the real world we all know if BM found out we were INTENTIONALLY walking around naked in front of their child there would be an emergency hearing….. When the SK isn’t around I usually wear a big t-shirt, but if he is around I put shorts or sweat pants on, so he doesn’t see anything. And when my SS was that age he would try to cuddle with me and touch my boobs, which had to be nipped right away. What is she thinking!!
Before I married my husband, his son (7 y.o. at the time) would stare at my breasts, like he’d never seen any before. I certainly would never have offered him the opportunity to see me naked. The nights he stays with us, I sleep in cotton panties and a t-shirt. But I wouldn’t even walk out of our bedroom in just that. I’ll throw on sweats first.
Hillary….. great at utilizing her acting skills….. not so great at utilizing her common sense.
Obviously Hillary has not read about imprinting – children can imprint as young as 5 on sexual characteristics, and she’s well on her way to imprinting that kid!! It’s one thing to sleep in whatever you want – behind your closed (locked) door, but I’m constantly aware of dressing appropriately in front of my 11 year old stepson. He’s on verge of puberty – I don’t want to have anything to do with what he ends up latching onto as sexy or not!!

OMG! I was horrified to read HS’s article! And my PEW would have been all over that like white on rice. My SS was 11 when we met and 13 when I married his dad and moved in. He was used to jumping into bed with dad on Saturday mornings and closed doors made no sense to him. I started locking the door if I was changing clothes but the jumping into bed with us was harder to break. So I see how they don’t put two and two together when they are young and naive but they still SEE it! It may even constitute child abuse…
