She has given one of the best interviews on being a stepparent to teenagers, unifying the family, creating boundaries and taking care of your marriage that I have read. And I’m honored to post it here.
Here’s a quote about stepparenting teenage kids…
“Think about it from their perspective: the two adults they love and trust more than anyone split up – that wasn’t supposed to happen. Then, dad chooses you, and they’re supposed to openly, willingly, blindly trust that he’s a better judge now than he was before, that you’re a better choice than their mom for him, and that you two are going to be together forever – not likely! The statistics are not in your favor, and your teens know that to put their trust in you may not be in their best interest.”
